Mtel acquires cable operator Blizoo
Mtel will acquire cable operator Blizoo, the company said. Both firms have agreed not to disclose financial details of the transaction.
The mobile operator will use Blizoo for development in the segment of fixed line services. "The acquisition of Blizoo is another step to develop this further in the challenging Bulgarian market. We, along with Mtel, see huge potential in strongly growing market of fixed services, which ultimately will be fruitful for Bulgarian clients," said Alejandro Platter, CEO of Telekom Austria Group, who will take office on August 1, 2015.
Services of both companies will be combined. They will offer various packages combined fixed and mobile services.
According to Telekom Austria, Blizoo has a 8% share of the fixed Internet and 11% of the TV services markets. The company has approximately 373,000 customers who receive fixed voice, Internet and TV products through DOCSIS 3 technology. Blizoo Bulgaria covers 1.3 million households. The company's revenues last year amounted to EUR 47 mln.
